Somewhere there is a magical place called Reggae Town. Originally it was believed to be in Jamaica, but now the language of Reggae has become so proliferated among white, middle class culture that the way to Reggae Town has become lost.
The final straw in the coffin of Reggae was the Malibu Rum commercials that portrayed poor black people convincing you to “Drink Malibu Rum, mon!” despite the fact that Malibu is not located in the Caribbean, but rather, is one of the wealthiest parts of Southern California. |
